Matka Canyon -Skopjie

Within a short distance from Thessaloniki, about 3.5 hours and just 20 kilometers from Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, you will find a natural treasure that has not been fully discovered. The Matka Gorge and the Vrelo Cave. Lake Matka may be artificial, the result of a dam built in 1938, but there is nothing artificial about the natural beauty of the area.

You will also admire the Vrelo Cave. The Vrelo Cave is one of the deepest underwater caves in the world. Many attempts have been made to determine the exact depth, but every diver who tries to discover it simply sets a new record.

In 2008, the cave had a recorded depth of 100, ranking 71st in the world. You will see stalactites mainly in the Vrelo Cave in the Matka Gorge of North Macedonia

Then we found ourselves in the city of Skopje where we admired its center with its many statues and the old town with its countless traditional shops. Also noteworthy is the city's well-preserved castle with its magnificent view from above.
