Itinerary in the beautiful Bratislava

Written by Maria Siritzidou

Bratislava... a miniature city compared to its neighbors but so remarkable as it is a budget option, ideal for all seasons while offering good food, nightlife, many cultural shows and various activities.

The capital of Slovakia with a population of around 500,000 is located on the banks of the Danube River and borders Austria and Hungary. It has been a member of the European Union since 2004.

This city is full of life as it has many universities and therefore many students. Get lost in the streets of its unique architectural buildings in its Old Town.

The number of its museums is also large. Bratislava is famous for its Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. Also impressive is the Opera House, a neo-renaissance building that opened in 1886.

Its castle dominates imposingly on an isolated hill of the small Carpathians above the Danube. It was founded in the 10th century and formed the nucleus around which Bratislava developed. The view from the castle is unique.

The cathedral of S.Martin is a jewel for the city. This 15th century Gothic cathedral is dedicated to Agios Sotiras.

We also admired the UFO observation deck an observation deck on the SNP bridge at a height of 95 meters and with an amazing view of the city. There is also a restaurant for a culinary experience.

The Blue Church of St. Elizabeth is another a jewel for the city. It was built in the Art Nouveau style at the beginning of the 20th century and is notable for the blue color of its facade.

Walking in the historic center of the city we also encountered many bronze statues. Schone Naci was a famous eccentric who lived here in the first half of the 20th century.Rubberneck(Camil) is also known and watches the world from a well.

The city also has a remarkable zoo that specializes in breeding endangered animal species.

Finally, the night life of the city is one of the best as it has many bars and young scenes in the Old Town. You can of course enjoy a cruise on the Danube and admire the city from the river.

Bratislava wins you over at first glance. The city that has it all. It is worth visiting even once.
